Living well from the inside out

Paint the World Pretty

Paint the World Pretty

We have a choice to make every day. Will we walk with Him or without Him? Will we bring Him into our worlds, words and actions? Or will we hastily make our way through the day, hoping things fall into place, unconscious of His calling.

That’s right, our mundane days hold purpose and calling even if it’s just from our own kitchens or the way we talk to our toddlers and teens. So, yeah, every day the Spirit aches for us to choose His way as we muddle along hopefully singing His song.

Because, you see, no matter what’s happening in or around us, God’s painting the world pretty with His purpose! Despite what this week brings, what we battle and what tries to break us, we can make our lives matter by being a part of His masterpiece.

If you’re like me, you get a little lost and feel so small in the scheme of things. Life overwhelms and the laundry list is long. Kids complicate simple things and bills boast bottom lines we can’t afford. Appliances bust and hearts break.

But it’s in our dealing with the day to day where He’s whispering His way right into our ears, ears stubbornly stuffed with the stuff of the world.

If we’d linger and listen, if we let Him into the ordinary moments of our days, our seeming insignificance suddenly becomes extraordinary. Yeah, we are extraordinary when He’s working in us and we’re choosing to live as a part of His art.

What the world offers is sometimes nothing short of awful! But, when we exist as even a morsel of God’s masterpiece, it means we, too, paint the world around us pretty! That’s why in the complications of the everyday, we must let our love lights shine directly into any darkness.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” Luke 8:12

I want to follow Him in His light! Don’t you?

But, how?

Start by saturating your life with our Savior’s love. Read His Word when you wake. Mediate as you walk. Set yourself up with songs of worship on your commute and in your kitchen for your kids to hear. Keep prayer close on your tongue so a simple call to Him is only a breath away. Praise Him for the hope and for the hardness because both bring you closer to Him. Post verses in your home and send little God love letters in lunches and through the mail.

Let your life be held in His hand as a paintbrush as He paints the whole world pretty! Because He’s doing His work with or without you…wouldn’t you rather go on the ride with Him?

Let’s take the mundane moments and drench our souls with His life-giving love as we surrender to the Lord over and over in the midst of the mud and the muck.

Because it’s when you wrestle with lifting your feet and you’re flailing your arms in angst that God holds your hands harder and fills your heart to the point of overflowing. And when we shine His light we’re viewed different from the way the world deals with its dirtiness. We are His art!

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1 Peter 3:9

Pray, Sisters, that we are His light, boasting brightness wherever we walk!

Let His love pour out all over, overflowing from your very existence.

I’m calling this out…probably preaching to my own soul in a desperate desire to live life His way…and praying you’ll join me because if we all light up with His love, we can change the world! We can paint it pretty!

God, hear us when we surrender to you over and over again! We want to drench our souls with Your desires! We want to live life in Your light, making each mundane day a part of Your masterpiece. So we ask that you keep us close and constantly send your Spirit to whisper Your will into our ears. And finally, Father, make our hearts move in response You. Amen
