My Healthy Eating Morning Routine & How to Make Easy Almond Butter

January 7, 2015, written by katie

No question….I am an addict. 100%, utterly an addict of my morning eating routine. I should be sad about missing out on other things, I know. But I am NOT! I adore the nutritional content, the comforting tastes and textures of my morning and how good it feels to start the day this way. OH, HOW I LOVE MY MORNING ROUTINE!

Plus, this addiction is not inhibiting my life or hurting others. So, I think I am good, right!?

So here, my dear Members, is how I roll from the time I wake up through the completion of my cup of coffee:

Chocolate-Coconut Christmas Gift Granola

November 20, 2014, written by katie

Since I've decided to give this granola in adorable little jars as Christmas gifts (along with my homemade vanilla coconut sugar), I thought I'd share the recipe just especially for Members here, too! And, believe me, it is a gift...well, if you like chocolate, of course. And, who doesn't?!

It's my hands down favorite chocolate granola recipe, which is obvious for two reasons. One, I cannot keep my hands out of the canister. Two, I eat it after the girls go to bed so they don't ask me to share!

Is that bad? Naaaaa....a mama has to have her treats, too, right?

Pumpkin French Toast

October 20, 2014, written by katie

In my home, mornings make or break the mood of the day. That's why I'm so regimented when it comes to my time immediately after waking up! Some might call me crazy or Type A or even militant about my morning rituals.

But when it means the difference between beginning the day bright or burdened, I'm sticking to the routine that works!

I wake before the sun, seek some wisdom in His Word and make my way downstairs for a workout before my girls wake up. Once I'm tuned up, body and soul, I'm ready to face whatever the day (or my girls) toss my way!

Traditional indulgences of the season truly add to autumn’s ambience. Spicy scents and flavors, cravings for comfort in fall foods and warm, cozy recipes to savor. I adore all of it, especially with my favorite wrap around my shoulders while I’m cuddled on the couch.

While I love all the indulgences of fall, the shorter days and my less active ways open the door to eating for all the wrong reasons.

Pumpkin Spice Muffins: Simple, Healthy & Gluten Free

I’m the first to admit that the occasional complicated kitchen concoction keeps me inspired. There’s just something about multiple steps ending in success that translates love from my heart to the plate of whoever I’m feeding. Weird, right?

I suppose…I’ve never claimed normalcy as part of my personality! Sure, I love the simple things in life and I truly try to maintain modesty in heart and home, with my little loves and in my faith life. Simple and pure provides peace!

I might be a bit of a crunchy mom. I’m ‘all in’ when it comes to real foods and holistic ways. My love for little homemade concoctions keeps me excited! In the evening you might find me mixing up some body butter, Kombucha or a bakery recipe makeover. In the morning it’s all about moving and my yoga mat, but only after a little God-inspiration.

Even the soaps we use are my self-made creations of organic oils and astringents. Oh, and my current fall allergies? Those are remedied with what I eat and a neat little netty pot. Presto! No more popping pills!

Apple Pancakes with Warm Apple Pie Compote

Seasons change. A lot… in my life. Even more than the normal four times a year it seems. So, I’ll just say I’ve gotten used to living in a state of change. In fact, I’ve learned to embrace it because with each change of season, after I’m thrown for a loop or two, I learn a little something!

Sometimes I get burned by summer’s beautiful sun, sometimes I slip and slide in the high waters of spring and sometimes I feel frozen in wintry weariness.
